Walking & Self-Guided Tours of Empire Ranch Headquarters

Please Note:  The Empire Ranch House will be inaccessible starting in May 2017 as it undergoes stabilization.  The rest of the buildings at Headquarters, including the Visitor Contact Station, will remain accessible during this construction which is expected to last throughout 2017.

Free Docent-led Tours of the Empire Ranch Headquarters, sponsored by the Empire Ranch Foundation, are held at 11am on the second and fourth Saturday of every month. Meet at the Visitor Contact Station. Tours are free, and open to the public. Advance registration is not required for individuals or groups smaller than 10. Special tours for groups can be scheduled by request. For more information about tours, call the Empire Ranch Foundation at 888-364-2829.

Walk the Heritage Discovery Trail! Enjoy a half-mile interpreted walk under the majestic Cottonwood Grove. See other outlying historic structures, visit the frog research ponds, as you walk through riparian areas of the Empire Gulch. You’ll find the trailhead, adjacent to the public restrooms.  Please Note: the Heritage Discovery Trail and all parts of the Empire Gulch are closed for emergency stabilization and rehabilitation as a result of the Sawmill Fire.
