Docent Training Program

Are you interested in learning more about the Empire Ranch and sharing your knowledge with visitors to the Empire Ranch? Then sign up to become an ERF docent. Docents conduct monthly Empire Ranch House tours that provide a general introduction to the history of the Empire Ranch, its buildings and its people. Each docent provides an average of four monthly tours annually.

The next docent training class is scheduled for Saturday, September 20, 2025 from 9 am to 3 pm at Empire Ranch headquarters. The initial class is six hours in length. Upon completion of the class each docent receives individual tour training. To sign up for the class complete the form below.

New docents are asked to complete the Docent Training session, and also to participate in home study, and individual practice/training. You will also be asked to give four tours annually. These tours may be regularly scheduled Saturday tours or part of a special event such as National Day of the Cowboy or Christmas at the Ranch. Please consider carefully whether you will be able to fulfill this commitment before completing this application.
