The Empire Ranch Foundation is undertaking a capital campaign to renovate the New Ranch House to serve as conference space for education programs, a place for environmental researchers to come stay for a day or two while they study the beautiful area of the Las Cienegas National Conservation Area, and as office space for the Foundation.
The New Ranch House was constructed by Pancho and Sherry Boice around 1955 as their home, and their children, Steve, Kitty, Sherry, and Carol, grew up in the house. It has also served as a residence for Empire Ranch staff, Mac Donaldson and his family, quarters for BLM staff, and as a field lab for researchers.
The estimated cost of restoration is approximately $350,000. Funding will come from individual and corporate donations and grants from agencies or foundations.
