A Star is Born

Plan to attend the May 10, 2025 screening of A Star Is Born (1976) featuring Barbra Streisand and Kris Kristofferson. Free. Bring your own seating, food & flashlights. Snacks and water will be available for purchase.

Troubled rock star John Norman Howard (Kristofferson) meets and mentors talented singer Esther Hoffman (Streisand) and puts her on the path to stardom. This tragic love story features Esther and John’s honeymoon house which was built on Las Cienegas National Conservation Area (LCNCA) near the LCNCA south entrance off Highway 82.

Spring Trail Ride, April 5, 2025

Join us on April 5th for a 2-hour guided horseback ride through the beautiful rolling grasslands of Las Cienegas National Conservation Area.  The rides departs at 8am, 11am and 1pm.

Rent a horse ($155) or bring your own ($55). A BBQ lunch can be purchased separately.  Riders must be age 8 or older; 18 years old and under must be accompanied by an adult. Spaces are limited and will not be available the day of the event.

In the Hispanic Tradition: The Mexican Cowboy

Plan to visit the Empire Ranch to view an exciting photo essay by award-winning photographer Patrick Christman, In the Hispanic Tradition: The Mexican Cowboy. The photos are on display in Room 6 of the Empire Ranch House.
